The various types of conure parrots vary greatly in their sizes. These can be both small and large-sized ones. These are mainly found in the southern and the central areas of America. In some areas they are also referred to as parakeets; but there are certain differences between these two types. It is said that the conure first came into existence and then the parakeets. The main feature of these birds is their cone shaped tails from which their name has evolved. One of the major groups among these conure is the green cheek conure. These intelligent and playful birds are greatly adapted to the change in weather and if needed, they can remain on diet too.
The green cheek parrots are found in large flocks on the tree tops. These birds have five sub species which differ from one another in both looks and character. The entire length of these birds is around 9 to 10 inches and the weight of the birds is around 70 g. Green is the dominant color that is found in their body; but this does not mean that you will not found any other color in it. You are likely to find a nice reddish brown tinge around their forehead. Around its nape, the green color turns a bit brownish. The cheeks are mostly green with different shades of green scattered on different portions of their body. The green cheek conure has a myriad of beautiful colors on its body.
With maroon on its tail, bluish tinge on their wing heathers, purple beak and grayish breast, they look just too attractive. Both the sexes have the dame of kind of color combination on their bodies. The main hood for the green cheek conure is fruits, especially raisins, seeds, bananas and seeds of hemp and sunflower. During each clutch, the females lay around 4 to 6 eggs.
